Ambassador Courtesy Call to Mayor of Kumagaya City


13 May 2019: Ambassador of Samoa, H.E. Fa’alavaau Perina J. Sila-Tualalelei paid a courtesy call to the H.E. Mr. Kyoshi Tomioka, Mayor of Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture on May 13th, 2019. The Ambassador and Mayor Tomioka discussed areas relating to the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan. The city of Kumagaya is one of twelve host cities for the Rugby World Cup 2019 and is also one of the venues where the Manu Samoa will kick off their Rugby World Cup campaign in a match against Russia on September 24th, 2019.

The Ambassador and Mayor Tomioka discussed opportunities to promote Samoa through seminars and other promotional activities with the city in the lead up the Rugby World Cup 2019 as well as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. As well, discussions also included possible opportunities to collaborate in facilitating cultural and student exchanges in the future.
